Overnight oats can be made the night before for delicious next-day oats. If the idea of planning for tomorrow sounds hilariously daunting, I GET THAT! You can make 5 minute cold oats with all of your oat ingredients and quick cooking oats instead of rolled oats. I felt like a pure genius when I discovered this. If you want to make 5 - minute oats, mix all ingredients and wait a few minutes, then eat. The following recipe is for multiple hour/overnight oats. Enjoy!
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup Almond milk (Sub: Soy milk, rice milk)
1/2 cup Water The following ingredients are added for flavor and texture.
Your basic overnight oats can be made with just oats and liquid.
1 mashed up banana
2 pitted & chopped up medjool dates (sub: 1- 2 tbsp raisins or dried cranberries, maple syrup)
2 tbsp flax/chia blend (sub: chia, flax, hempseed note - chia does a nice job adding thickness)
1/4 cup frozen blueberries (sub: any berries frozen or fresh)
-Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar and mix well
-Cover bowl/jar and store in the fridge while oats thicken (at least 2hrs)
-Remove from fridge, add toppings if desired, and enjoy!
I used banana, shredded coconut flakes, and strawberries as toppings.
I also made a video a few years ago to go along with this recipe. View that video here:
